I love teaching and seeing the students grasp and understand the joy and fulfillment that playing music brings to their lives. I studied classical and jazz guitar under Gary Colman and Jack Cechini, music theory under Lyle Gillman, and banjo under three-time world champion five-string banjo player Bill Emerson. I believe the best education is application. I gained a lot of experience and knowledge playing bass, guitar, and pedal steel on the road for 17 years. I was a band leader in The Neighborhood, a band that had a top 20 song on Billboard and opened up for huge acts such as The Beach Boys, Pink Floyd, and The Supremes. I’ve also served in ministry as a Baptist minister and worship leader for over four years.
My students can expect a clear and concise curriculum designed to meet their goals at the specific level of their ability. My lessons are structured with consideration to physical ability, such as hand size and body size, along with each person’s mental acuity. I hope to help each student achieve their personal goals according to their expectations.
Playing music has allowed me to use the talent God has blessed me with to honor and glorify His Holy Name. Outside of music, I have enjoyed doing prison ministry with my wife, Jac. We love teaching and sharing the Gospel and leading Praise and Worship in Africa and the local correction facilities here in Texas.
Sharing the joy of playing music is my greatest passion, and I’m dedicated to helping students unlock their full potential.
